Lovell Stone Group proudly supplies a range of Purbeck stone from the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset.
Purbeck stone has been used as a traditional building and paving material since Roman times, and has been central to the construction of the majority of cathedrals located throughout the UK. As the largest supplier of Purbeck stone, Lovell Stone Group is dedicated to extracting all the prominent beds of Purbeck stone that have been quarried over many centuries.
Due to the nature of the quarries and the geology of Purbeck stone, stone extraction is performed by machinery, rather than blasting methods. As a result, it has virtually no impact on the environment.
Our Purbeck quarry has state-of-the-art equipment, including a new filter press, enabling continuous recycling of the water used during the sawing process.
