We were delighted to take over the lease of the iconic Hartham Park Bath Stone underground mine, in February 2016.
The mine owner, David Pollard, is an expert in all things Hartham Park and is a mind of information which has given us a unique insight into the mine’s amazing history.
Interestingly, Hartham Park incorporates Travellers Rest Quarry which was opened in 1810 by Mr Woodman and is the oldest known Bath Stone quarry.
If we had been its custodians in 2010, we would have happily celebrated its 200th anniversary but we are content enough to know that it’s the oldest and the best Bath Stone underground quarry in the land.
